The Canon RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1L IS USM is a tele-zoom for the company’s full-frame mirrorless system. The lens can reduce shake by up to 5 stops, and up to 6 stops when attached to an EOS R5 or R6. It has dual nano USM motors, even driving their own focus group. Special elements included super UD and UD glass. The minimum focus distance is approximately 0.9m (just under 3ft). Despite having a rotational zoom, the lens is sealed against dust and moisture. The lens supports Canon’s RF 1.4x and 2x teleconverters for additional reach.

Here are two new Canon patents . The optical formulas are for RF 100-400mm f/5.0-7.1, RF 100-300mm f/5.6-8.2 and RF-S 55-250mm f/4.5-7.1 lenses. Note that the last one has an “RF-S”.
We can say that the RF 100-400mm f/5.0-7.1 and RF 100-300mm f/5.6-8.2 Canon lenses seem to be inexpensive telephoto lenses for RF-mount full frame mirrorless cameras. Along with the RF 14-35mm f/4L IS USM lens, Canon will allegedly announce two RF lenses in the near future. These optics would be the RF 16mm f/2.8 and RF 70-400mm f/5.6-7.1 IS USM lenses.
The Canon RF 70-400mm f/5.6-7.1 IS USM lens is a non-L lens. The aperture of the Canon RF 70-400mm lens has not yet been confirmed, but it is rumored for F5.6-7.1.
The Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 lens is also a non-L prime lens which has not appeared on the roadmap until now. This lens is probably for a full-frame sensor, but it may also be a very useful wide-angle lens for APS-C cameras. I don’t think this lens will have a macro function.
