Atomos Ninja V+ brings 8K ProRes RAW support to Canon EOS R5

The ability to record 8K ProRes RAW in up to 30fps or 5K ProRes RAW in up to 60fps is now available with the Atomos Ninja V+. At $1,499, the Ninja V+ is the first recorder to support 8K recording at 30 fps on the Canon EOS R5.

Canon Announces New Firmware Updates for EOS R5, R6 & EOS-1D X Mark III

Canon officially announced the new firmware version 1.50 for EOS R5 & R6 and firmware version 1.60 for EOS-1D X Mark III mirrorless cameras. The new firmware updates scheduled to be released on December 2, 2021.

Canon EOS R5 Firmware Update Version 1.50 Coming Soon

According to the latest rumors, the next firmware update Version 1.50 for Canon EOS R5 mirrorless camera might be released soon. The release date of this new Canon firmware update is expected to happen after the shipping date of the Canon EOS R3. The Canon EOS R3 is scheduled to start shipping on November 26, 2021.

As you might guess this will be a major one in Canon EOS R5 firmware 1.4.0 compared to version 1.3.1. t

Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III Firmware Update Version 1.3.0 now Available

Canon released the new firmware update version 1.3.0 for Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III camera.

Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III firmware 1.3.0 incorporates the following enhancements:

1. Adds support for [Video Blog Recording Mode] setting to the [Movie Mode] function.
2. Adds support for [Zebra Settings] to the [Movie Mode] function.
3. Adds support for [Aspect marker] to the [Shooting information display setting] in [Movie Mode].
4. Adds support for [Recording emphasis] to the [Shooting information display setting].
5. Adds supports level display when AF mode is set to [Face + Tracking priority AF].

Firmware Version 1.3.0 is for cameras with firmware up to Version 1.2.0. If the camera’s firmware is already Version 1.3.0, it is not necessary to update the firmware.

Canon EOS R5 Firmware Update Version 1.4.0 Released

Canon released a new Canon EOS R5 firmware update version 1.4.0 This new Canon firmware update is a major one in Canon EOS R5 firmware 1.4.0 compared to version 1.3.1.

New Patent : Canon RF 100-400mm f/5.0-7.1 & RF 100-300mm f/5.6-8.2 Lens

Here are two new Canon patents . The optical formulas are for RF 100-400mm f/5.0-7.1, RF 100-300mm f/5.6-8.2 and RF-S 55-250mm f/4.5-7.1 lenses. Note that the last one has an “RF-S”.

We can say that the RF 100-400mm f/5.0-7.1 and RF 100-300mm f/5.6-8.2 Canon lenses seem to be inexpensive telephoto lenses for RF-mount full frame mirrorless cameras.  According to the designation, the RF-S 55-250mm f/4.5-7.1 is clearly designed for an APS-C sensor. Canon EOS-1D X Mark III Firmware Update Version 1.5.0 Released

Canon has released the new firmware version 1.5.0 for the Canon EOS-1D X Mark III DSLR camera to add the Canon Log 3, simultaneous movie recording on 2 card slots, VPG 400 profile, and more.

Canon EOS-1D X Mark III firmware 1.5.0 incorporates the following enhancements and fixes :

1. Adds [Canon Log 3] to [Canon Log settings].
• Support for RAW movies shot with Canon Log 3 and RAW (Light) will be available in a future version of Cinema RAW Development and in Digital Photo Professional software.
• Support for the processing of RAW movies shot with Canon Log 3 and the application of Viewing LUT will be available in a future version of Digital Photo Professional software.
2. Simultaneous movie recording on card 1 and card 2 has been added, however RAW movies and RAW(Light) movies cannot be recorded simultaneously on card 1 and card 2.
3. Support for the VPG 400(Video Performance Guarantee Profile), a standard based on the CFexpress 2.0 specification, has been added.
4. Fixes an issue in which there are rare instances where the shooting settings for Still Photo mode are retained when a user switches to Movie mode.
